I just bought a house here on 4 acres with no neighbors within 100 yards. Plus I can't see them because of all the woods. There's nothing behind me and I already talked to one neighbor and they said to let them fly. Well I've been here for a few days and haven't heard a single gun shot. I don't want to be the only neighbor making noise. So does anyone shoot out here anymore?

i dont see why you can't shoot in your yard. Are you within city limits or anything that would not allow you to do so?

I have a couple friends that have a similar sized plot out in Suffolk off of 58 and 460 that shoot quite frequently. Every now and then after a session, some one will call the police and they would show up. After making sure they were being safe (not shoot towards neighbors), they left and said keep up the good groupings.

I've been shooting handguns and long guns for a while now on the property. Havent shot anything too loud just some 9mms and 38s but so far no problems.

I do and I've shot all sorts of calibers without any issues but it might not be within city limits.

What does this mean? Within city limits? Isn't anywhere in Suffolk in city limits

The good thing about where I shoot is that noone can see me from anywhere. I have a path carved through the woods that goes to a clearing that isn't visible from any of the adjacent properties.

I'm more than mildly jealous. ... been trying to find somewhere where I can shoot like this.
I grew up shooting "out back" & much prefer that to commercial ranges.

I saw this was an old post from 2 years ago. But it might be important to discuss at his time.

Suffolk laws require 100 yards from road and 200 yards from a house or building without owners permission.

I just spoke to the Suffolk Police about this as there was a complaint against my property. I am all good, but they did say they were getting lots of complaints about shooting.
