If you like them, as many as you can afford. Reasonably speaking? 6

2 full size (1 in .45, 1 in .22)
1 compact (truck gun)
1 double stack (for **I miss Obama** and giggles)
1 collectors grade (to brag about)

3

I have 3 grand sons.

I'll leave the 3 colts to them.

Owning 4 1911's would be...well...silly.

+1 for "two is one, and one is none" this principle applies to most equipment/tools

For years, too many years, I had no interest in a lemon squeezer. I finally bought a 1911 about 5 years ago. I now have 8 of them, and 3 XDm's, and am still looking at more 1911s, for caliber conversions, as if I need to stock yet more calibers. But I feel the need for a .38 super and .460 rowland. Which means I will likely end up with two of each.

I'm currently stocking about 30 calibers. The only reason it's that few is I had to stop buying big bore rifles because of a shoulder injury. Big bore to me is greater than .35.

Does a Ballester Molina count? I know it is probably more closely related to a Spanish Star model B, but there is parts interchangeability between a Ballester and a Colt.

I’m mostly stocked with .45 and 10mm with some .40 and a 9mm and the look alike.380 RIA. I looked at the .460 and .50GI, but 10mm makes me mostly happy for my 1911s!
