I got a G19 in 1986... gun shop owner had tried it... he didn't like it and sold it to me used around $350.

For 10 years I was teased about my plastic gun and how it would melt or break etc. I always answered that it was lightweight, worked well, shot straight and that I thought that sooner or later that these Glock guns might just catch on.

However... I did yield to peer-pressure once in 1994 by actually cleaning it. I know... I know... but we all have a moment of weakness at some point in our lives.

God made men.
Col. Colt made them equal.
John Moses Browning gave us perfection.
Gaston Glock gave us plastic toys.

Glock was a innovative pistol when it first came out and it really changed the firearm industry and law enforcement . The days of the revolver were gone pretty much , except for the snub-nose , when they hit the market .

I was one of the ones that thought that they would never last , I was wrong .

While I have one Glock pistol , I still have many more steel pistols and revolvers . A metal pistol is like art to me and a plastic pistol is like a hammer , it is not pretty but works all day and gets the job done .

I remember making fun of the first Glocks I ever saw.

It turns out:
Glocks are not ugly, they are ergonomic.
Glocks are not cheap, they are reliable.
Glocks are not just simple they are easy to maintain.
Glocks are not plastic toys they are the most reliable guns ever.

I shot Glocks in competition for years. I've hunted with them and now when I leave the house...there is always a Glock on my person...or two.

I'm waiting for the 12mm Glock.

Well, they are easy to clean. MOst of the malfunctions I have seen in matches over the past 12 years have been Glocks.

I rag on them a lot but it is subjective. I like the 1911 type ergonomics. In my opinion it is the best grip angle I have ever used. The bottom line is we have to carry what works for us regardless so don't get offended by anything I say about Glocks. There is nothing wrong with them.......well except for the fact that they have no soul!

Anyway, they are a fine tool if you like them, like everything else. Have fun.

Of course all the jest is all in fun... ONLY way a gun community should be.

The last noteworthy fact about Glocks is that are dishwasher safe... if you must clean them...

I haven't seen more recent data, but according to the ATF, in 2016 Glock sold over 350k pistols in the US - 10% of the total number of pistols sold that year.

Sig Sauer shipped over 500k

People might hate on glocks , might not like them but I know if I was to get in a gun fight , glock would be my choice. I have had many glocks and have never had any problems out of them . I canít say that for many other brands that cost more than glocks. Just face it, glocks might not be the prettiest gun and right out of the box they are by no means perfect but they definitely get the job done.

I love rolling up to the range and hearing all these comments about Glock then their gun jams and I just give them the look.
