I've been letting a deer hang out in a tree behind my house for 6 weeks...cut it into it and it looks fine...any reason to think that it's not fine LOL....

Should be fine as long as the temps haven't gotten above 45 degrees.

Two weeks at 29-40 degrees = dark, tender and tasty.

Below 29*f meat freezes,

Above 40*f meat spoils.

Skin on protects the meat.

Yeah we've had temps both below 29 and above 45 but in general they've been staying in the mid 30's....skin has been on.

Key is consistent temperature. 6 weeks with temperature swings above/below freezing is an issue.
