I went to the NRA/VCDL even today. Great show of unity from gun owners - very glad I was part of it. Unfortunately, Dems pushed through with some really bad gun laws, despite strong public opposition. SB16 (AWB) got derailed for a time being but no doubt will be back later in some form.

Anyway, while waiting in line to get in, there were a few people who open carried their handguns. One gentleman in particular was carrying a political sign which was appropriate for the gathering, but I think he kind of ruined the mood for fellow gun owners in line with the way he carried it - it was a shoulder holster with muzzle pointing backwards. Every time he turned, he would muzzle the entire line.

While I have no doubts that this gentleman can positively exercise control of his firearms and operate it in the safe manner, last time I checked Cooper's rules still apply.

I know that shoulder holsters have their place in firearm carry, I just don't think carrying a handgun in such manner is the best option during public gatherings.

There's also a growing number of people who plan to carry their long guns at the rally (some in full kit for some reason). VCDL recommends against it. Please read VCDL FAQ VCDL LOBBY DAY 2020 FAQ .

After today, I really feel VA gun owners are getting organized and finally pushing back hard, I'd hate to see this great effort being destroyed by someone with poor gun safety attitude.

What do you guys think? I know we should exercise our 2A any chance we get but shouldn't we at least do it in a safe manner?

I totally agree with it needs to be done in a safe manner. We need to show a higher level of intelligence than the dems, but they (dems) are so ignorant they won't recognize when we are doing so.

I completely agree. Lobby Day is not the place for camo clad guys draped in long guns. That day may come but Lobby Day isn't it.... yet.

This coming Lobby Day is going to be huge. There is going to be a giant media presence. The best thing we, as pro 2A folks, can do is present a positive, professional and unified appearance. The anti's are looking for us to be a bunch of Confederate flag carrying goobers open carrying our 8" revolvers. Lets show them that we are mature professionals who are very concerned about the future of our great state. I support anyone who comes to support our 2A rights but would ask people to take into consideration if their appearance betters or hampers our support of the Second Amendment?

I have checked and can find nowhere anybody except cash is king that are talking on the benefits of the recall petition.

Let's do better folks, we only need 10% to cause a recall. We need a legal specialist to write a bullet proof recall petition and everyone sign it and let our combined voice speak the truth.

Don't you think the delegates and the governor won't snap to when the recall movement starts??

Remember, these politicians are a vain bunch, their personalities can't handle general and full on rejection.

I mention all this for the following reasons:

1). Gun etiquette won't matter if they have their way

2). Sanctuary isn't the answer, just the verbal intent

3). I was at one meeting and there were enough people in attendance to recall our elected

Send emails to the VCDL, GOA, NRA to have petitions available at lobby day for all to sign.

Someone on this site once said, have signs in the ground near the building with the county names prominent and sign here petitions for the recall. We can knock so many birds down with just the stones we throw on lobby day.

You are correct A Virginian, I've already signed the call for the impeachment of Governor blackface.

I was looking for recall petitions for the delegates and elected county and city personnel.

I'm hearing terrible stories about such a person in Prince William county that needs to be recalled.

We can cause the people elected in the counties and cities that refused the sanctuary request.

I fixed your link to the petition at change.org.

Josh Bratton started this petition to State Representative M. Kirkland "Kirk" Cox

Sign the petition to have Governor Blackface impeached.
