No need to remove the “ US PROPERTY “ . Millions of weapons out there with that stamp. All legal. Your S&W Model 36-1 is a Chiefs Special, first engineering change, the -1. The guys on the Smith and Wesson forum can help you with both of your pistols, but they will need pictures, both to determine and special characteristics and to determine condition. Hank
