Apparently, like many on the site, I hate money. I'm gonna do up a safari rifle off of the rifle pictured here, it's an Interarms Mauser Mark X that doesn't have a caliber designation anywhere on it, and I'm too lazy to cast the chamber. Or I breathe enough garbage in while welding and just maybe don't want to **VOTE IN NOVEMBER** do it, whatever.The stock is a right hand Fajen and as nice as the stock is, I'm left handed/left eye dominant so that **VOTE IN NOVEMBER** doesn't work either. I'll most likely have TTi do the work on the gun if they're willing, or someone they recommend, I'd like to keep the work being done in VA.

Haven't settled on a caliber yet but I'm leaning towards 375 H&H or 416 Remington. I'll most likely use an ER Shaw barrel and have some rifle sights thrown on it too. Also haven't settled on a stock. Figure I'd get the barreled action sorted out and then find a stock for it.

I'll update this as I get stuff done and if anyone has any suggestions or tips for me feel to make some noise.

My advice is determine the caliber then shoot it before doing anything to it. It may be a good shooter just the way it is now.
If not you, someone else may have a use for it.

If the caliber is not to your liking...a trade or trade-in may get you what you want.

They let me design a stock for my 1952 model 70 Winchester,
Aluminum bedding channel, nice wood, along the lines of the original but it holds point of impact like a synthetic stock. And they are located within driving distance of my house.

I used a 338 Win Mag for 35 years of hunting Alaska and it is my favorite large rife caliber.
However, a safari caliber I am interested in, is the 416 Remington Magnum. I no longer have a use for one but I'm still interested.

That is very solid advice and I really appreciate it. I absolutely hate doing chamber castings though and that's the only way I know for sure to determine the caliber.

And wow on the stocks!!! Those look amazing and that's great to see somewhere that'll allow you to customize a stock to that degree. This may be easier than I thought!
