Good morning! Hope everyone is well today. I知 not new to the shooting world by any means. I知 quite capable and trained in all platforms from pistol to long range rifle. Now that being said. I知 STUMPED on what I should buy when it comes to .22lr. I am torn between the Ruger MK4 lite and the 10/22. I値l be teaching my son in a few years and logic dictates. If you can shoot a pistol well, a rifle is even easier, it doesn稚 work the other way around. So anyone have pros and cons of the above mentioned platforms?

Do you have access to air guns?
That's how I started my four kids, from there a bolt or single action rifle and SAO revolver.
Semi autos were reserved for when they had more experience.

However, based on your choice of the 10/22 or mk4... I'd go with the rifle..

Not knowing the age/size of your youngster.

Always start with the basics....the simplest platform.
I recommend a single-shot 22lr.

I recommend a Cricket.22lr It痴 a bolt action single shot, sized to fit a little guy. Many of the first-time shooter痴 courses for kids use them. They are pretty inexpensive too.
