Hi! I inherited my father's shotgun and he had a couple boxes of birdshot shells that are maybe 15 years old. Is this ammo safe to use and fire?

Or should be I just err on the safe side and dispose of the old ammo?

Any guidance would be helpful.

Thanks!

if its not paper shells and has no signs of water damage there fine to shoot. hell just go shootum! they wont mess your gun up. worst they can do is not fire. ive shot ammo 50 years old.

Even if they are paper shells go for it. I have some paper shells at least 75 years old that go boom but you may have minor extraction problems like case expansion causing extraction problems but perfectly safe to use them.
