Plinked a bit with some 91 gr Tulammo and PNC 95 grain stuff.

Tula had more kick and sounded supersonic. PNC quieter and less kick, could have been subsonic.

Tighter groups at 25 yards.

Played around with 100 grain HPR (subonic all the time). Not the tightest group, but CONSISTENT.

Yes sir. Not that the 9mm carbine version kicks much but the 380 almost bridges the gap between 22lr and 9mm carbine in felt recoil.

I bet with the lightweight ARX or Lehigh bullets you could get them moving out to 1500-1600 fps or so at standard pressure. Not a bad little SD riffle for the wife.

Oh for sure. I have some of those on hand for exactly that. Will chrono them.

Generally with the hotter 380 loads you can get to about 400 ft/lbs out of a carbine. Which is essentially overlapping some 9mm numbers out of pistols.

In some ways it doesn't really make sense, as 380 is weaker and more expensive than 9, that gets to about 600 ft/lbs out of a carbine with hotter loads, but sometimes that isn't the point.

If I can find platforms that are relatively quiet, relatively low recoil, they can be confidence boosters for new shooters, older shooters, younger shooters, smaller shooters.

As I'm sure you could tell Mark, the blowback operation on the 9mm carbine isn't much recoil, but its still there. Shooting the 9 and the 380 carbine back to back when shooting at 25 to 50 yards the biggest difference is that the target is still visible thru the scope of the 380. The 9mm jumps a little off targer.

Semi-related ... the Civil Defense 10mm loads are 60 grain coming thru about 2800 fps....not that far off from your standard 223/556 loading. And Hi Point makes the 10mm carbine.

Not saying the heavier, lower capacity 10mm is superior to a normal AR platform, of course not. But just more options.

And with bullet technology now things certainly are changing. Fort Scott has a 380 round that has shown to put down black bear out of a carbine. Pretty wild. I wouldn't try that or bring a 380 to a bear infested area...but nice to see technology changing things for the better at times.
