It isn't just there. The only jurisdiction I know that is fully staffed is Chesterfield County, VA. No agency can hire people right now. Crappy pay and work conditions are not something people seek out for employment these days.

Not just fairfax, statewide. Agencies trying everything but decent wages to hire people. Many agencies doing lateral transfers, which is creating a free agency like market where local cops jumping back and forth between police depts for more money. I.e. how chesterfield is “fully staffed” now
