I always hear that I build my guns in weird calibers.

Figured I would do this one in another weird caliber... .45acp

For those that have never heard of .45acp, it is a really old caliber invented in 1905 by a guy named John Browning (he was kinda a gunsmith fella years ago).

.45acp has been used in many platforms since then, including 1911s (a handgun), Glock 21s (also a handgun), Thompson's... and well... lots of other guns also. IIRC, Hi-Point even builds a .45acp. So, the caliber covers the spectrum from gangsters to Wilson Combat snobs.

This particular carbine shoots well with Glock 21 mags (normal and high capacity). Bullets speeds vary from 1,100 FPS to 1,850 FPS... the later being a very hot .460 Rowland load.

It is hearing safe with a Lane .458 Magnum Scorpion can. It is also reasonably accurate out to 200 yards. Recoil is virtually nil.

.45acp Carbine - Video 2

NOTE: All NFA items shown in these videos are 100% LEGAL

Others are requested to publish their load data for .45acp and .460 Rowland

Typical Frankenbuild upper. DI.

Factory lowers are hit and miss on finding. Patent stuff I think.

AR-15 lowers can be made to work (but not G21 mags).

Some folks fabricate their own lowers.

New Frontier is doing some I think, PSA somewhere in the future.

We will put up the .45 Raptor project next. Then maybe a .45 Raptor SHORT (AR-15)... then .375 Raptor... then .375 Raptor SHORT.

I am really surprised that a Glock mag feed .45acp didn't catch more attention or comments here.

I know .45acp is an old cartridge (some even say obsolete (vs. the new .40 S&W etc.)), but I had thought is was still fairly popular...

...same with Glocks.

Oh well.

I've been contemplating a ar45 for a bit but prices for the DI uppers are more than my wallet will suffer. Always liked the 45 Glocks (running a 30 edc) and have a DM Ti with ti radials in progress and a dedicated press setup to load Berrys 230 hhp/fmj with 5.2gr of win231, cci primers. Casting 225gr lead projos that are awaiting a coat of epoxy in the toaster oven and time to work up a load.

Build one... IIRC my barrel blank was $40... my Smith profiled the barrel for around $110... extras were a custom gas block and tube (by my Smith) and the obvious barrel extension... the rest is just "stuff" we have laying around.

I've not had much luck with a gunsmith in Tidewater that can deliver on their promises or isn't an "AR/Glock armorer".

Didn’t think the 45 needed a gas block bc it’s blow back. I know cmmg has a 9mm that is gas opp like most ar’s. I like my 9mm pcc ar’s but have been contemplating a 45

Oh my just looked and Macon makes a di acp. Does that help a lot w recoil slap? Can you post a new video of the range time? 1000 buck for a upper and bcg isn’t terrible considering the abuse a 45 acp and blowback opp sucks. I was told a blowback 45 is almost like pulling the trigger on a ar10.
