Anybody shoot 5.45 AKs?

Just wondering who still has them?

I still own but don't fire my Arsenal 5.45 rifles anymore, I still have several cases of 7N6 though.

Wolf black box is easy enough to find, it's hard trying feed multiple calibers...

I have a AK 74 a little more ammo won't hurt

I'm thinking of picking up one more....maybe a Rifle dynamics gun or send my Arsenal out there. Option 2 is an Arsenal 104. I haven't decided

Just bought an arsenal 104fr. Ill be taking it to elite on saturday to see how it shoots. The mags are expensive, ouch. Had to be a few tapcos to hold me over.

Sweet and good for you. I took the plunge again and picked up a 104 as well!! Shoots great, as expected. Buy once, Cry once.

shot it this weekend. I could not believe the groups i was shooting with a red dot at 100yrds. It's an accurate rifle, and an amazing shooter.
However, the action does hiccup at the bolt. It caused no issues shooting, but i am contemplating whether I should smoothen out the bolt, hammer, etc..

Hiccup as in jam/malfunction or the trigger isn't that smooth with the bump I'm the hammer.

no malfunctions, it's probably mostly caused by the bump in the hammer. i am thinking of just filing that down, so the bolt can move more freely, and easily.

I did the same to one of mine. It smoothed everything out. Polished the action as well. Shots really fast and kicks like a .22

excellent, i will start working on it tonight. Did you use sandpaper or just polish it?
i just ordered an alg trigger. The stock trigger has way too much creep.
Overall, i really like the rifle, and i'll be putting a lot of lead downrange with it this year.

have a polish tantal 5.45 it is one of my favorite AK's. like you said shoots like a 22. Mine is very accurate

I dremilled the hump out then polished it. I forget the YouTube video, but it was easy, and a long time ago. I would skip the ALG trigger and buy ammo/mags.

I just bought one at an auction for $450. It's in almost new condition just a little bit of carbon. Might blast it off with some walnut shells or something. Shoots awesome and glad I bought it. Been looking for ammo so far only have 400 rounds. What are ya'll doing to your hammers also are there any recommendations I should do to a stock 74?

i have some tapco mags. i hate those mags. All my tapco ar mags don't last more than 2 years, and now my ak 74 tapco mags are breaking. I am sure the pmags will be better, though i hear people complaining about pmags on aks.

I've been shooting 74's for a couple of years now - mine run great regardless of the mags I've used. The Govt surplus is the best, but you have to be vigilant about cleaning up afterwards. It's a heck of a little zipper of a round...

I rock a custom Vepr74 and it's amazing. i have 5 pro mags that i got for free in a sweet deal but I've never used them. i run the molot bakelite 45rd and a couple tula plums.

waiting for the magpul mags to come out. Yes, people say they aren't the best, but I've never had an issue with them, and much cheaper than russian mags. Tapco mags however are the worst. I make the same mistake of buying them, and then complaining about them, not too long after.

i own 3 now. the tantal a bulgy and a saiga in 545. love the round and platform...have a hard time picking which is my favorite ak...one in 5.45 or my saiga 308

Same for me. I've shot both with no difference to me.

Picked up some Tapco 74 mags. Tight but they work flawless.
