Re: Current build - 11/04/17 10:07 AM

Looking good. Did this start out as a 80% frame? I just fitted a Wilson high rise grip safety, and did a bobtail on my colt. Next up is a short trigger for my small hands. Keep it up, it's looking good.

Re: Current build - 11/04/17 02:49 PM

This is an 80% build, the grip safety is an SA .220 radius.
- C&S ignition kit
- SA .220 grip safety and arched mainspring housing
- Dasan frame, slide, barrel
- EGW angled bushing, mag catch, slide stop
- Wilson thumb safety, extractor

Still need medium trigger and novak sights, blacked out rear, tritium front sight or maybe gold bead, haven't decided yet

Very nice. You watch any of mosinvirus's work on YouTube? I really want to try a undercut trigger gaurd sometime. Your build sounds like fun. What are your coating plans?

Re: Current build - 11/04/17 10:18 PM

I haven't seen any mosinvirus videos.

Under cutting the trigger guard is easy.

Coating will be semigloss black cerakote

Re: Current build - 11/05/17 10:34 AM

Very nice work. I'm hesitant do undercut my trigger because it's my only 1911 and the front strap is already stippled. (Ignore the hair, my dogs winter coat is coming in and he's shedding his summer coat)

Re: Current build - 11/05/17 11:09 AM

There's enough meat. You could redefine the edge of the stippling if you to do it.

That is a Gold Cup? You have a gold cup thick short trigger?

Re: Current build - 11/05/17 04:02 PM

Good eye, it's a 1972 colt gold cup trophy match 38 special mid range that was modified back in the late 70s to run 45acp and cut to commander length. They sqaured the trigger gaurd, stippled the frame, fully hand fitted and tuned, s&w revolver sights and I'm sure I'm missing a few things but it's a smooth operator. I'm gonna end up trying to undercut it here soon.

Re: Current build - 01/05/18 09:33 PM

Second one has been fitted, slide to frame. Barrel to frame and barrel to slide is done, except for timing. Grip safety will be slightly modified to be able to remove without removing the MSH.

Love the LEGO revolver. I am going to ask a stupid question: how did you guys acquire your gunsmithing skills? I am very envious. I have no machining experience and no tools. Did you first take a class or was it trial and error with reading and videos?

Re: Current build - 06/18/19 02:23 PM

Actually for me, it was too much time on 1911forum.com I started there with lots of reading. Then I started with a cheap RIA to start trying stuff out on with different parts. After that it was a lot filing and fitting and testing.
