Any Local Outdoor Shooting Ranges?? - 10/17/16 11:35 PM

Hey guys my name is Tim, I do plenty of indoor range shooting but rarely get to do some outdoor shooting. I am just curious to know if there is somewhere I can shoot outdoors and maybe even get a membership or just flat out pay to use for the day. I know of maybe 2 outdoor ranges but seems that I will either be on a list for 2 or more years or would need to be sponsored by someone already a member of the range.

If anyone knows of anywhere in Richmond and surrounding areas or any info at all please let me know as I will be very greatfull.
Thank you for your time and info. Have a good day guys and gals. -Tim

Feel free to correct me if I can not post this here as I am new. Thanks

Maybe late, but in time for spring:

Ft Lee has a Personally Owned Weapons range that is open to the public on certain Sundays if no military activity is going on. I think you can call them on Wednesday to see if the range is open that following Sunday:

POW Range:

Contact Information:
Monday - Saturday (804) 765-2212
Sunday (POW Tower) (804) 765-1631

Hours of Operation:
Sundays from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Subject to closure for training purposes. Please call Outdoor Recreation at 804-765-2212 or the Range Tower at 804-765-1631.

$5 first hour
$2.50 for every additional 30 minutes
Ages 10 and over only

Authorized Weapons include: handgun, muzzle loader, shotgun, Rim Fire (.17 Center Fire up to .223/5.56)
Targets for sale at the range.
POW Range does not supply eye protection, ear protection or ammo.

Trap and Skeet Range:

Contact Information:
Monday - Saturday (804) 765-2212, Saturday and Sunday (804) 765-2210

Hours of Operation:
Wednesday - Sunday, 10 am - 4 pm

Fort Lee has great shotgun shooting opportunities for all skill levels on the two skeet, two trap, and one 5 stand range. Military, retired military, DoD employees and civilians are welcome to use the ranges. All shooters must provide a valid driver's license or state issued picture ID in order to enter Fort Lee.

Fees and Membership:
Shooters pay $3.50 for each 25 targets shot, plus the cost of ammunition if purchased from the range.

Other fee schedules apply for the various program shoots

UPDATE 02/20/2017; Ft Lee POW Range is closed to the public due to staffing shortages. Not sure at this point when staffing allows the range to reopen to the public. Call the range directly to get the latest updates.
