Re: Ar build party - 05/21/14 02:32 PM

Just a quick update, I ordered my 80% lower for 38.95 and free shipping. Did not wait for anyone cause there is no discount for group buy.
Posted by: Kodogg77

Re: Ar build party - 05/21/14 03:18 PM

Where did you order from? And have u decided on a place and date yet?
Posted by: DerekL

Re: Ar build party - 05/21/14 05:06 PM

I am interested in this as well....sending a PM now.
Posted by: boostless

Re: Ar build party - 05/22/14 09:28 AM

This is where he ordered the lower from:

https://www.ar-15lowerreceivers.com/ar-15/80-lower-receiver-raw-blast/

If anyone is going to order one we should set up a group buy to save on shipping and possibly get a discount.

I have a little cash and can afford this one.

http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3971

found this and it kinda looks intriguing (sp?) and seems to be priced decent since it comes with a jig. Only problem is it's a polymer type lower.

http://www.vaguntrader.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/731800/gonew/1#UNREAD

I asked him what he wanted for them if someone wanted the other one.

Re: Ar build party - 05/26/14 06:44 PM

Posted by: boostless

Re: Ar build party - 05/27/14 08:29 AM

Posted by: Blackhawk

Re: Ar build party - 05/27/14 04:09 PM

Posted by: boostless

Re: Ar build party - 05/28/14 07:46 AM

Posted by: twlyle

Re: Ar build party - 05/28/14 08:27 AM

So is this thing still going on my calender?
Posted by: boostless

Re: Ar build party - 05/28/14 11:13 AM

A date needs to be settled, I more than likely won't have a lower to do.

I think July 19th would be a good date for me, how does that work for everyone else?
Posted by: Blackhawk

Re: Ar build party - 05/28/14 12:46 PM

Does not have to be one party, could do two or more
Posted by: boostless

Re: Ar build party - 05/28/14 12:51 PM

does anyone besides Blackhawk have a lower in hand ready to be done?
Posted by: littlesamurai

Re: Ar build party - 05/30/14 07:54 PM

Any plans for an assembly party? Could we get any vendor to sponsor it?
Posted by: boostless

Re: Ar build party - 05/31/14 09:08 PM

If you have the parts I'm sure we could assemble it, it's not hard at all.
Posted by: littlesamurai

Re: Ar build party - 06/01/14 07:00 AM

I was thinking about everyone brining their own parts and getting help from more experienced users on tips to assemble it. Doing it at a vendor site, we could buy missing parts, parts that were mismatched, parts that get lost in the build (gas rolling pin comes to mind laugh ), or upgrades. Maybe the vendor could charge a 'class fee' that could we waived if you bought some of the parts from them at the event.

Hope this isn't dead. Looking forward to finishing a Polymer80 G150 and Ares Armor 80% anodized aluminum lower. I will bring along a brand new Ares Armor AR15 80% jig.

Re: Ar build party - 07/11/14 07:46 PM

Fullmeasure it's not dead, you don't need a jig I have a mill. I have not posted in a while cause its vacation time. My days in fredericksburg are fri, sat and Sunday till August 8. My only requirement is you bring a friend to help read the digital readout. Pm me and let me know if those days are good for you

PM sent.

Re: Ar build party - 07/29/14 10:21 PM

I met up at Lanham's place this past weekend with a buddy who helped out when I needed a second set of hands and eyes. He helped us learn his tools and was 100% helpful whenever I had questions. I left his place on Saturday with hands and feet bruised, bleeding, and sore from working at the mill all day long, and again on Sunday. Yeah, it was my first time using a mill so it took way longer than it should have and I still managed to make some mistakes along the way, but I couldn't be happier with the finished product:

For anyone that wants to know, the rifle is a 14.7" pinned birdcage carbine gas rifle kit from PSA assembled on a now-100% 80% anodized lower from Ares Armor.

Thanks again Lanham, hope the fish are biting down in VA beach and you're enjoying the hell out of this amazing weather we've been having these past few days.

Lanham, is that your garage? If so, I am severely jealous of all them tools! lol

Re: Ar build party - 10/17/14 01:59 PM

Don't be jealous, I barely know how to use them. Still figuring it all out.

Re: Ar build party - 10/22/14 10:40 PM

Re: Ar build party - 10/23/14 10:29 AM

Yes, by Fredericksburg Christian high school, about 10 miles from you. You wouldn't happen to know how to thread on a lathe would you? Lol

Re: Ar build party - 01/13/15 06:15 PM

has any one else came by to do a lower? and my 308 barrel is still with my rifle at manners so it might be a while before I get it back.
Posted by: Blackhawk

Re: Ar build party - 01/13/15 06:37 PM

I think we have done 8 lowers so far, i hope to have the mill converted to cnc in the next month or two so it should be much faster to do them.

Just give me a call when you want to do the barrel
