Looking for an outdoor range or someone with land - 12/08/20 09:27 PM

Looking for an outdoor range or someone with land to shoot. Willing my to contribute work or maybe buy some steel plates. Target shooting with teenage sons, mostly 22 stuff. Responsible person that will clean up the after usage.
Thanks

Just go to a state range to use for free. When I stationed in Norfolk, I go to Bob’s. They have great family package there, cheapest indoor range in the country.

Thanks for the response, Bobs was my normal but has been closed for COVID and remodel, eagerly waiting for reopen. Closest state range is a sighting in range an hour or more away, and rifle only. Most clubs do not appear to be accepting new members at this time. Just wanted to target shoot outside and to see if anyone could advise of other options. Thanks

Find a friend with club membership. If you’re close, you can use our club facility of over 1500 acres. I stopped going to state range once the fudds banned handgun uses.

You are not going to find folks with land in the city willing to let strangers go to shoot. A lot of liability even if it is legal. Most indoor ranges in Hampton Roads / Tidewater area are ripoff. Just find someone belonging to a club to tag along.

Thanks, I have reached out to them, seems most clubs are currently on standby for new members due to covid.

The local club see membership participation dropped 85% as members elected to save ammo. But membership fee is so low folks just renew just to hold the spot since the book has been closed for over 15 years and there are 50+ people in waiting list. Those folks are using the clubs for free as escorted guests but they still want to join.

The place is empty every time I go there, people are simply reserving their ammo. For a club with a average household income of $250k, that is very strange but most members are simply too lazy to stock up during good time and they just sit on their limited supplies, preserving via not using. Great for people like me who can now take up 3-6 non-consecutive lanes without worrying about forgetting our stuffs.

Bumping this. Just moved here from a rural area where we set up steel and ran drills in a much more "dynamic" way. The idea of shooting at a paper target in a short indoor range is depressing. Someone help!!
