Gun Stores Inside the beltway?

Gun Stores Inside the beltway? - 04/08/14 10:31 AM

Maybe there is some obvious law or ordinance I am unaware of, but why are there virtualy no gun stores inside the beltway?

It would seem like a slam dunk. High salaries, little competion and customers from MD could come buy their mags/accsessories that they can't get shipping into their state.

Even if the prices were a tad on the high side to cover expensive retail space, They should be able to clean up. There are a ton of little boutique stores in say Old Town that can't possibly have the kind of cash flow a well run gun store would.

If I want to buy something, I have to drive down to quanitico or out to culpepper. There are a handfull of small shops down that way, but they are attrocious. Hansohn Brothers is worth the 1.5hr drive, but I spend more in gas than I do saving on xfers.

The only one I know of is the one in downtown Falls Church. I believe it's called Nova Firearms and is in the Bedo's building (the leather shop on the old house right on Broad Street). I haven't been on there personally, but I have heard good things.

There were gun stores inside the beltway years ago but for various reasons they have moved outside. In the 1980's there were several gun stores in and around Arlington, Falls Church, and one near Cherrydale, IIRC.

The closest gunstore WAS NoVa Firearms, but they have since moved to Mclean. There are several FFL's that do business inside the beltway, but none I know of operate storefronts.

plus I would imagine rent is more expensive inside the beltway compared to further south/west. Especially with the proliferation of online gun buying. Most people aren't gonna pay $100 more for a gun in person at their local store than they would online.

There is a pawn shop in Arlington just minutes from DC. Nations Pawn or something like that. Customer Service is lacking. Prices are high. But that is the norm for a Northern Virginia gun store.

NoVa Firearms moved to Mclean. And oddly enough...still inside the beltway.
