Thinking about getting into it. Seems like a cheap hobby.......

All hobbies seem cheap until you are in them.

its not a cheap hobby. a proper anvil will set you back 700. your hammers need to be good quality steel and will set you back another 200.
if you build a forge the cost on that.
you will need a good hickory or oak anvil stump for a work space.
tongs, leather vest, gloves "yes i recommend these hot steel under your wedding ring sucks"

coal can be hard to come by. if you are going to use charcoal i recommend learning to make your own you will go though a lot of it.

a good supply of steel to work with is not as easy to come by as it use to be. rail nails are getting harder to find at flea markets. and the Chinese steel is what you would expect. avoid anything plated with anything. zinc burns off toxic and will kill you in a few days if not hours.

this is not something to jump into if you really want to get int it.
