Blacksburg here. I'm a member if the IWLA, Christiansburg. I shoot IDPA at Roanoke Rifle and Revolver though.

I've been planning to go out to IWLA. We have a Blacksburg PD friend that's a member, but I've been too busy recently.

^^^ It's a nice club, with a bunch of great guys. You should come check it out. Also if you're interested in shooting IDPA you don't need to be a member. The matches start back up the third weekend in March.

I need to join IDPA as I feel the practice would be good. As for RRC I should join as close as it is to me. Decent ranges even if the 500 yarder is on an angle.

Per Club Rules yes you must hold a NRA membership. You can also look into the IWLA Roanoke division. They have a range off of Starlight Road near Boones Mill. It is not a bad setup other than being a little out of the way.

I guess we need to start a Club thread that will make it easier to obtain this info probably need to do a thread per local group/club/range. Off the top of my head there are RRRC, IWLA roanoke/christinsburg, PSS, the range on Potts Mountain, I cant remember the name of the one in Rocky Mount. Any others I am missing?

Yes, NRA membership is mandatory.
Full membership in the NRA gives the club special benefits and, of course, finances the gun lobby.

Around Lynchburg ? - Izaak Walton League of Lynchburg(Amherst Co.) has a 50 meter handgun/rimfire range, 300 yard rifle range, several T&S fields(5-stand soon), 2 lakes/beach/kiddy pool, archery range/hiking trail/etc. www.iwll.org

Access to R&P ranges does require NRA membership(you can get an associate one for $10). Most private ranges carry insurance through an NRA affiliate and 50% of the range members must belong.

The trim work, staircase etc. in that home is the type of work that I do for a living and one of the reasons I’m staying in my area.
