Punishment for breaking the rules.....

Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 07/09/12 09:53 PM

Something minor for first time offenders will be receiving a verbal "heads up".

SHOUT BOX:
1st offense- 24 hour ban from the shout box
2nd- 1 week ban from shout box
3rd- 1 month ban from shout box
4th- no more shout box...ever.
But this depends on how bad your actions are in the shout box. If they are bad enough you may receive a "time out" or you will be banned.

POSTS:
1st offense- 24 hour "time out" from the entire website.
2nd- 1 week "time out"
3rd- 1 month "time out"
4th- Banned forever
And as with the shout box if you really mess up you could be banned.

HOW TO GET BANNED FOREVER REALLY QUICK:
You may not receive a second chance if you are on here

- threatening members
- attempting to cheat or defraud
- doing anything illegal
- arguing with the moderators or administrators
- multiple negative feedback from other members due to not following through with agreed transactions
But not limited to just the above.

This is subject to change or be updated.

I got banned for a week for listing "multiple firearms at once". It was two different guns!!! And, all my listings / posts were removed. I've done a lot of honest business on this sight. Still not sure what I did wrong!?!?

Okay, been punished. Supposed to be allowed back at 5:01 pm, Mar 6th. The only thing I can do so far is access this crap where I get to read about all the things I'm not supposed to do. After reading all this, I expect to get back on and see half the members banned for some or the other infraction. I did the time for my crime so let me back on. Don't tell me I'm banned for a week then not let me back on after the week is up.

Ditto... apparently you cant sell multiple firearms on this site without a problem...most of the guys i have spoken to seem nice but whoever controls this is not making them seem very good...i guess instead of having multiple firearms in multiple conditions, you get tagged for lying and trying to con people lol... luckily i have had good luck with the patrons on this site and was able to make some good deals, im happy, and so is my girlfriend that i cant use it anymore lol... have a good one whoever's reading

Hey, I was put in "time out" for a week for "reposting". I've served the 1 week suspension but I have not been given full access to the site (For sale/trade forums, other member's profiles etc.) I understand this is a privately run website, and you can do whatever you want, but your rules clearly state that it is a one week "time out" I'm now going on 1 week and 1 day "time out" and it's a little unfair.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 03/18/13 06:04 PM

I'm currently on week TWO of my ONE week "time out" can anyone offer me an explanation as to why I get the "special" punishment not listed by the site?

Recently reported a user for price gouging. The user responded by telling me it wasn't a good reason to report someone. I told him I disagreed. An "argument" ensued and this user then began referring to himself as a moderator... How I am supposed to know who is a moderator and who isn't? If this is something that can get me banned quickly, shouldn't I be made aware of these persons not to argue with to avoid being banned?

That's easy .... see the color of JMB_Nova and My screen names (light blue). That indicates a moderator. Red indicates an administrator.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 06/09/13 08:34 PM

Your names are the same color as anyone else. Only VAGT's name is different.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 06/09/13 09:27 PM

all the mod names have always looked light blue to me.
Posted by: ktyhawk

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 06/14/13 11:43 PM

It depends on the forum color you use. I never saw any of the mods as light blue until I set my forum preferred stylesheet to BLUE DOOM. Then I could see who the mods were and I found out I was one... Wacky.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 06/15/13 02:43 AM

i just cycled through all the stylesheets, and the only one i saw an issue with is "VGT DARK". i could not see any difference between name colors on that one. all the others showed mods as light blue, at least on my computer.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 06/15/13 01:44 PM

I use and recommend "VGT Dark". All user names are light blue.

the problem with "VGT DARK" is that mod names don't stand out, and that is the easiest way to be identified. at least from what i've seen.

Easiest way to not get banned is don't be a douche bag to anyone. Read and understand the rules, then follow them.

Common decency is encouraged, but not required - so, no you don't HAVE to respond. (Unless one of the friendly moderators messages you of course wink )

Seems 10 days has turned into several months...

I've recently tried logging in only to find no change on my status.

Do the forums not allow admins to pre-select the number of days, or is this tracked by sticky notes?

All fixed, Thanks for the quick response.

I was punished for posting in the shotgun and riffle forums for buying a shotgun and a rifle then a moderator moved the rifle one into the over 200 dollar trade would have been nice to ask a question I was trading or paying cash depending on what the person wanted now I can't reply to others should only be a 24 hour ban but still an awful way to handle it I could have edited the post and removed the part about a trade for electronics makes more sense or post on my topic saying please clarify or post gets moved deleted

You should be punished for horrible grammar AND punctuation (or lack thereof)

Trading a cell phone for a firearm does not belong in the firearm section, it belongs in the Trading Nonfirearm items for firearms. Your post was moved to the correct location, as you had no firearm to trade.

Pretty much sums it up, 99% of the members never see or hear from us because they do.
I am noticing that some are looking for loopholes in the rules and act accordingly siting "there isn't a rule that say's I can't".
Common sense plays a big role here. Spamming, Flooding the Shout Box etc inconveniencing other members and are also discouraged and arguing with a Moderator that "it isn't in the rules" is really a no brainer.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 03/28/14 02:28 PM

For those who still don't know who the mods are, a recent change lists all of the moderators on the very bottom of the forum pages.

Scroll down and you will see them and can click on one to communicated with him if you desire.

You have been released from timeout.

Re: Punishment for breaking the rules..... - 07/27/15 12:55 AM

Here are a couple of thoughts - if you have been given a time out or ban, READ THE RULES AND FOLLOW THEM. Also - the Mods, who are volunteers, are human too, so politely asking for something a couple of times is better then sounding annoyed or angry that an issue was not fixed quickly enough for you. If you just seem to keep getting in SB trouble, but want to use the site - you can turn it off....problem solved. If you treat everyone with dignity and respect you will be treated likewise.

To steal a quote from one of my all time favorite movies,
"I got my mind right, boss"

If you'll have me, I'd like to come back home. I'll understand if the answer is no.

Just got a message on the Sell that I had no permission to post ?
I did get in trouble once when I thought my ad was gone and reposted(turned out I had initially posted in another area!).
My bad. But I thought I was cool now.

Your account has no restrictions. You will get that message if you try to bump and ad in less than 24 hrs.
