guns you will never sell - 09/04/11 07:44 PM

lets see those favorite toys that you would never sell.

for me its got to be my remington xp-100 in 221fireball
topped with 3x12 burris. gun shoots 1/2in groups at 100yds.
great ghog killer out to 300yds .

Re: guns you will never sell - 09/04/11 08:24 PM

I think mine would have to be my T/C Encore mainly because its so versatile I have pistol and rifle barrels and both shoot 1/2"groups.

Re: guns you will never sell - 09/04/11 10:09 PM

Not much of one, but I have a Ruger 77 .270 that I purchased in 1985 with a Burris scope that has killed more deer than I wish to count. The stock is less the perfect, if in damp weather surface rust will appear, but the bore is bright and shiny and I will continue to shoot it for the rest of my life. I will however take others with my new toys only after she has taken the first.

Re: guns you will never sell - 11/14/11 08:29 AM

Hmmm, I recommend you ask the question as "If you had to declare bankruptcy under the laws of the Commonwealth, which one firearm would you declare part of your homestead?"

I'd go with my Great Grandfather's '73 Winchester. When my father inherited it, we took it to a gunsmith in Dallas. As we walked in the smith looked at the rifle and declared "now that thing has seen indians."

However, if I foresaw a zombie apocalypse, or other such event on the horizon, I'd probably pick differently as .32-20 is not a round I expect to be able to find in too many places.

I'm a fan of a number of my pistols, but if forced to choose just one gun, it would have to be a rifle, due to their ability to put meat on the table in an emergency. For that situation, I'd probably go with the 94 Winchester in 30-30.

Wife hunted down/bought my first 1911 as a birthday gift. Not only would I not WANT to sell it, but she would most DEFINITELY not let me sell it. SA Mil-Spec SS, about to revamp it with new springs, trigger, sear, hammer. Pretty much doing all of the internals to make it as sweet of a shooter as possible. I've got the idiot mark riiight along the slide but, I see it as character haha.

My Beretta 96 - maybe the only thing my biological dad has given me other then life that I'd hope my eventual kid could one day cherish.

My Ruger 10/22, given to me by my uncle, and what I learned to shoot on as a kid.

Those are probably the only ones I wouldn't sell at the moment. Others I just wouldnt sell unless I replace (ahem upgrade!) them haha

Of the almost 30 firearms I own, I could bear to part with any except my two 10mms, (610 and Kimber 1911), my 11-87P, my Remington 700 CDL, my Bison Armory 6.8 SPR, My CETME, and my Arsenal 5.45x39. The last two are my Zombie rifles. I really haven't formed an emotional attachment to the others yet.

Re: guns you will never sell - 10/09/14 07:17 PM

How about a Savage 99eg in .243 with factory cosmoline still on the reciever and bolt. Serial # 960,000 so would have been made around 1957-59. It was found in a dark corner of an estate sale in May of this year. You can see the price tag of what I payed for it. Will never find another deal like that.
Posted by: Travis#

Re: guns you will never sell - 10/09/14 07:24 PM

One more a Marlin model 39 not a 39a. What really makes it interesting is it was rebarreled with a 39a barrel, before they switched to micro-groove rifling. Found at the same estate sale. Not much collector value, but you talking about one accurate 22 rifle. And action is smooth as butter.

A single shot handgun is also my never sell gun. Mine is a T/C Contender. It's versatile enough to do everything I need a gun to do, if I didn't have any others. I have a couple barrels for it, but here it's wearing a .22LR barrel with a red dot.

Re: guns you will never sell - 01/05/16 01:45 AM

I found a Chinese copy of a mosin, stock was rotted, bayonet was bent to hell, bolt was missing, front sight was crushed. Some work later and it's now one of my crazy range guns / end of world survival guns. Hey, who doesn't need a battle axe in pinch...

It's just odd enough to never leave my collection. SOB kicks like a mule and she's loud and sin, but I like it and every time I take it out everyone wants to send a few rounds down range.

Re: guns you will never sell - 03/09/20 02:42 PM

It barely kicks. It's tiny. It's accurate. It will kill anything that comes into my house I need it to. It doesn't stovepipe because my wife is limp wristing it. It has 30 rounds on board, and a bunch more at hand. It is going up in value. It is a lot scarier than a pistol. My wife can keep people pinned down if I need to circle around and deal with them. It will shut down a car or truck engine if needed. It was cheap as hell. Parts for it cost nothing. It can be modified if needed. It can fit in a bag if needed. It can fit under a coat if needed. It required no tax stamp. It is totally legal. It can be fired one handed. It will chop down a tree if my axe is dull. It can be used to beat someones skull in if it runs out of ammo. I know it will do its job if required. I cannot think of a better made home defense weapon. no kick. no stovepipe. no jam. no problems.
