Looking for help to identify an older 22lr rifle - 01/01/21 05:36 PM

Looking for help to identify an older 22lr rifle. I believe this is a 22 rifle but with all the rust it is very hard to see any markings on this firearm. I am interesting in restoring this firearm. It cycles and fires. Heard this rifle may be from the 60's maybe 50's as this was my grand fathers rifle and he was born in 1941. Any help on identifying this gun would be much appreciated. This is the only picture I have as of now will post more tomorrow.

Mossberg mod.151M-B? With the fore end cut down?

There are several similar models - just google it.

With the help of SgtSquishySquash and Verylargeboots we have determined it is a Mossberg 151K, made 1950 and 1951

Do you have plans to refinish it and redo the stock? As long as the grain isn't broken you can steam the dents out of the wood once it's stripped

I am starting to refinish it. Taking it completely apart, removing all rust from it. sanding and re staining the wood stock and fixing the crack in it. Trying to bring it back to life as it was mistreated before it got to me.
