Anyone have an idea what this is? Sardine can contains 440 rounds and I can’t identify what it is for. Help appreciated

Those spam cans with the pull tab that are lead/solder sealed are incredibly satisfying to open.

They have similar overall length, but going by the case dimensions and the shoulder, I'd say 7.62x54R over 303 British.

Type 53
20 Rounds

It’s for the Chinese Mosin. Type 53 Carbine.

It’s definitely 7.62x54r. If commie spam cans just say 762 on them, then it’s 54r.

Here is a pic of

30-06 M2AP on the left,

7.62x54r in the middle (light ball about 150 grain out of the 440 round spam cans)

And a 308 Hornady Match cartridge on the right.
