2015-2016 Deer Pics!!!

*Ooops. I posted a pic that a buddy sent me that was killed in Prince Edward. I posted and never even looked at the post until tonight. Now I can't find the picture I meant to post.

These are all from one camera and all from last week. I know which area I'll be in this weekend! I think 2 of the pics are the same deer. All of them are shooters though.

Jeez wish I had deer around me like that! Can't wait for this weekend though.

Well now for the exact opposite end of the spectrum. My son's first blackpowder, Halloween, 16th birthday buck. Shot at about 8:30 opening day still hunting a ditchline on the family property in Accomack Co.. He shot him at about 15yards with his .50cal Thompson Center White Mountain Carbine. He was using 320gr t/c maxi-balls with 80grains of pyrodex rs. The high neck shot dropped him like a sack of taters.

Congrats to your son Limb, that's a good 1st day. Congrats to you other fellas as well, some nice racks up there.

I dropped 2 does on Saturday, young and tender, very tasty. I've seen a buck behind my house, but haven't gotten a good look or clear shot at him yet.

The early mornings and sitting in the rain paid off this morning. This appears to be the same buck that a friend of mine shot on the first day of muzzleloading. We never found any blood or evidence that he hit it, hoped for a clean miss. Turns out he just skimmed it's back, it had a nasty wound. I got him this morning off the same stand and in almost the same spot where my buddy missed him. Worked out for me, he crashed hard and didn't make it more than 20 yards from impact.

Great Start to the Season.

2-8 points this Archery season. The top one was harvested on Oct 23rd and the second one 7 days later.

For the non-typical fans, this is not mine, saw it at a customers house. Very wild stuff.

Decided to go sit for a couple hours this afternoon. Just before dark I hit the grunt call and this 9 point showed up. The shot may look high but I was about 10 feet off the ground shooting down on him with my 45-70

Son killed his first deer Saturday 95 yards perfect shot with his cva scout 243

Good for you for pulling over and saving it! I usually drive around w/ a hacksaw in case I spot one on the side of the road and can at least salvage the horns.

Man, those are some really nice deer. I haven't seen any of the big boys I got on camera yet. I think the rut is over in that part of the state. Passed on a nice 8 this past Saturday and then killed a little doe.

10 pts neck was swoll up , and to be where he was at the time he was he was chasin or bein chased. Hack saw takes to long redcat i have a buck cross lock spun it around to the spine stepped on front hooves and twisted

Got this one Thursday morning in Randolph County Wva . 300 yd shot with a 30/06 165 gr Nosler. 18 " inside 20 outside spread.

That's a nice one Tommy, good shot too. Lucky it was under 500 yards or that 30-06 would have been useless.

Wv rifle season is almost always foul weather. Lol Same time last year it was 20" plus of snow.

Nothing wrong with getting excited for next year! Here's one from November 2015. Not a giant by any means, but he had some pretty crazy piebalding, and this is about as large a deer as you see on our place during legal shooting hours once the guys next door start running dogs.

6.5 Grendel! Bad * round, terrible product and customer service from Alexander Arms. Really cool deer, though- I'll see if I can find pictures that show it better, but the coloration you can see above extended all the way across his face. And, unfortunately, he had the tumors characteristic of a piebald, too

Cool , 6.5 is one I have never owned ....yet. I have a couple in 6.8 , which I really like. Good luck this season, not far off now.

I imagine the difference between the two doesn't warrant owning both. A lightweight AR setup in either of the above with a 1-4 optic is a great way to go for deer in VA. Anyone got any motivational trail cam pictures yet?
