Nice buck, did you get him in Hanover? My wife and I just finished working up my last two deer. Got 4 in the freezer now. A 6 point with a 15” rack, he had four on one side and two on the other. Also killed a spike that I shot for a doe, no more horns for me!! And 2 big does, not a bad year. Just waiting on the shop to call for me to get my burger. I took the 2 bucks minus the lions and hams to be worked up into burger. I’m hoping to get about 20-30 lbs. After that my freezer will be pretty full plus the 2 does my daughter shot on youth hunting weekend. I don’t think we will go hungry. I like to hunt but I’m glad they are all worked up and in the freezer. The fun stops once they hit the ground, then the work begins. Happy hunting!!!!

Travis, no I hunt Brunswick county. Of course today was first doe day and raining made it historically sad.

Congrats on your success this year. Always good to have freezer full for the winter.

Shoot straight!

After 5 years of waiting I finally drew a shotgun buck hunt at the coveted Radford Arsenal! Yep, it was for 11/24.... freezing rain, rain and generally the most uncomfortable hunting conditions imaginable. 30 hunters killed 3 deer... the biggest was a 20” 4 point who was obviously going downhill as far as age and rack size. I saw one 6 point that was on the edge of the 15 1/2” antler restriction. The weather cleared as the 4 pm end of hunt time approached. Lots of rules, regulations and possible penalties rule the hunt. The VGDIF personnel are good to work with but with restrictions galore, I seriously think I’m not jumping through the hoops anymore. I have hunted the Arsenal six times with bow and shotgun since 1985 and would be glad to share any information if anyone has questions.

Bummer on your timing. You paid your dues, hopefully the hunting gods will help you out down the road.

Deer are thick this year everywhere I have gone.

Not been seeing the huge racks that make for the best horn soup, but meat harvesting has been a huge Blessing for many.

Some nice looking racks, congrats to you guys. I haven't gotten anything picture worthy, just putting meat in the freezer but it's been fun so far.
