ronnieboy 920 - 10/01/12 08:41 PM

He posted an unconditional "I'll take it" in my for sale thread. Sent an email and a PM.

Here are the communications:

Today 1:50 p.m. from ronnieboy

Hello Cory.. Responding to your post for unfired 16" BCM upper... I'll take it. Please feel free to contact me at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

- Thanks & Regards,
Ron

Today at 3:20 p.m. I replied
Hey Ron,

Do you ever make it to Charlottesville or will the upper need to be shipped? As the ad states, the listed price is for a face to face transaction.

If it needs to be shipped, how about you make payment for an additional $20 to cover shipping, insurance, and tracking. Anything beyond $20 will be on me to cover and if it's less I will refund the difference.

If it is being shipped, I can take payment via USPS money order or by Paypal, whatever is more convenient for you.

I couldn't call because I'm off to a meeting for work, but I can call later if you like.

Thanks,
Cory

When I checked VAGT at 6:30 he had read my PM, but not replied. I contacted him a minute ago to discuss the transaction and suddenly he doesn't want the upper anymore. He said he would pay $15 shipping and no more. I told him that he should have PM'ed any questions or concerns and worked out a transaction before posting an unconditional "I'll take it" in my thread.

Buyer beware.

Re: ronnieboy 920 - welch - 10/01/12 10:16 PM

I had come to find out that seller has the same BCM upper listed on ar15.com. He had responded to earlier inquiry on ar15.com Private message system offering to ship for $10. I couldn't get myself to pay double the shipping cost that he quoted on the ar15.com forum. I thought $15 shipping cost was reasonable for an intra-state shipping cost.

I responded to your email, but I'll IM you here too. I'm in Charlottesville, but I'll ship for $10 and cover anything extra if you are interested.

The $10 shipping on ar15.com was when the upper was listed at $400 on that site. The total on it then would have been $410 shipped. On VAGT, and VAGT only, I reduced the price to $375 yesterday for a face to face deal.

Regardless of any communications on another website that had nothing to do with this transaction, ronnieboy posted an unconditional "I'll take it" and welched.

If he want's to bring ar15.com into this, then lets include their practice of banning people who welch on deals.

This poster Ronnieboy put me in a situation similar as he posted a s&w.40 for sell emailed me a bill of sale with my information on it and then reneged on the transaction saying his brother in law wanted the weapon. He is a strange guy. Iwill never do business with him. Buyer beware

We should expose frauds when we encounter them. There are good honest people should put up with bad business practices

Have to agree with coryd on this one. A deal here is a deal here. What goes on at another site has no bearing on a deal here. Only talking about $5-10 dollars. I wouldn't let a few bucks stop me from honoring my commitment.

Both sides (and then some) responded. Post locked.
