Yesterday...

Two well dressed Creedmoorians rang my doorbell...

As I opened it a crack... they said...

"Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior, 6.5Creed?"

A while back I traded for a 6.5 Creedmore and discovered it to be amazingly accurate with factory ammo as well as a pleasure to shoot.

It's not that the 6.5 Creedmore isn't a great round, it's that people think it's something new that has never been done before. Flat shooting 6.5, 260 and 7mm chamberings have been around since the turn of the 20th century and most of the cartridges performed very similarly to the 6.5 creedmore. The manufactures hyped the 6.5 creedmore and produced rifles and ammo to reach the masses.

Most shooters do not know that a very similar version of this cartridge, 6.5x53mm cartridge was used by the Romanians as early as 1893, so I agree-it is far from new.

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor - 05/30/19 09:11 AM

The BC on 6.5 bullets is astounding... regardless of chambering, 6.5 bullets and the right twist barrel can do amazing LR things.

HOWEVER, a .270 with right twist barrel can do better...

So can .308 bullets with the right chambering and barrel twist...

AND .338, 375, 510s and even .224s

I don't hate Creedmoor because it sucks... I hate it because it takes no knowledge and no skill to shoot it well (i.e. any monkey can go to Walmart and buy a Savage 110, the best scope and rings (that Walmart sells... install said scope and rings with a Walmart screwdriver) and couple boxes of BS grade ammo... and shoot very well.

If you EARN skill... I respect it... if you follow what the web tells you to do like a sheep... I do NOT.

Don't care for my opinion? Glad to hear it... Seriously.

-------------------------------

I will share this final thought... "Learn to love medium and big bore stuff NOW (...don't lose 10-20 years figuring out that .358 Winchester, 9,3x62 Mauser, .45-70, .375 Raptor etc. are REALLY REALLY fun... and accurate stuff).

6.5 Creedmoor ain't nuthin' but a rebranded .260 Remington. Both perform about the same, have very similar specs, and are short action instead of long. About the same debate between a .300 Whisper and .300 Blackout.

StaNAg SPecs InSTEad of SAamI....
