Oak wood bed finally done. Rough cut oak boards. I used old power line pole cross arms for the cross members. As well as color matched the steel wheels to the body. Chrome trim rings and black ford center hubcaps. And tail lights of course.

Mount some chairs to the side and that would one heck of a rolling picnic table. laugh

Nice job... IMHO, band the bed with steel and matching blue. BMG metal out of Richmond will deliver.

I'm redoing my 8'x 20' trailer in 8/4 sweet gum. Wood makes a great wearing surface.

Your old bed probably has $400-$500 in value... Being that old.

Perfect color choice.

FYI... 2wd and a light rear... Be careful she doesn't get stuck in a small puddle.

Re: 1976 F150 project - 05/02/21 07:54 PM

Update.

Sanded it down in spots
Fades from blue to grey primer to original white to burgandy/brown primer to bare metal.

Salt, vinegar, peroxide mixture sprayed on bare metal at 15 min intervals created the surface rust.

Boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits at ration 10:1 sealed it to prevent further corrosion.

Re painted parts of the grille and the bumper antique white.
As well as trim rings
Steel wheel painted red.

Patina mo meaner.
