Closing VA Gun Trader to new Members for 365 days on 7/1/2020? - 06/30/20 12:02 PM

I would suggest that closing the site to new members *might* cut down considerably the number of phishing attempts by the various state and local LEO's to phish private sales after 7/1/2020.

The membership here is pretty robust. Maybe closing the site temporarily to new members until the dust wears off on the new law might be a good move.

Also purge or take a deep look at any new members in the last 30-60 days an see if the IP's resolve to government IP addresses.

Free advice.

Clearly the easiest way to avoid phishing attempts would be to not break the law...

I bet there are more here than what people think. I was a mod on a hunting site, we didn't sell guns there just talk hunting. We has the ATF, FBI, Home Land Security and various state law enforcement agencies on there at any given time. I'm sure there are some that are members here just waiting to pounce on anyone not obeying the unconstitutional laws.

Have you dealt with any of the newest members here lately ... it’s already too late ... lol , not . As a wise man once said to all those who say just obey the law .. may the chains rest lightly upon your neck ...... Good luck all , Virginia is lost ..!!

Aw,comeon!Leave the option for new members open.Maybe the prices on arms will go down(buyer's remorse due to the Panic),and it could be fun to figure out who is trying for a "sting"!

I don't see a reason to do that.

You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube . It is too late . These new laws are to punish the law abiding , I don't want to see this site and the good people that I have met here brought down by trying to do anything outside of these new unconstitutional laws . There are already people here reading this that sole purpose is to make a talking point for these laws . We did not show up until it was too late now we must vote ourselves out of this hole . Join VCDL , GOA if you haven't already.

Only deal with those you know. Maryland had the same restriction. It prevented nothing. There was much face to face trades/buy and sell going on but it did not occur between strangers. Just be careful.
I agree that not accepting new members until x date will work. Agents of the state/feds are already here and have been.

I would worry more about this site closing permenantly from disuse.

Used guns at higher than new prices and I still have to visit and pay a dealer for the NICS check!

Its easier to to simply buy from the dealer!

While I'm on my soap box....has anyone noticed the deafening silence from FFL holders on the new law?

They are being forced to make more money. No products to stock - just a few minutes of their time on the computer and collect their fee.

Hmmmm?

More new gun owners in VA in the past 3 months than ever before. No doubt many looking for advice, training, accessories, and possibly a community.

How about we just all be lawful citizens and welcome the new batch of potential friends?

Well done. I was thinking about how to respond to this and you hit the nail on the head. The law we are living under now may be "lawful" but it is not "legal". There is a difference.
Infringe means, "Infringe means to violate; exceed the limits of. It means to encroach upon the law or rights of another.".

https://definitions.uslegal.com/i/infringe/

Clearly Richmond has run afoul of 2A in creating a "law" that is repugnant to the Bill of Rights. We do have one recourse however, and that it jury nullification.

To vote Democrat is to attack the Constitution and the government limitations it imposes, albeit ignored by the sitting Communists. Dems bring nothing to the political table except blind subservience. Northam is an abhorrence and an example of what not to do.
