Which manufacturers make true left-handed pistols?

Which manufacturers make true left-handed pistols? - 05/19/22 03:53 PM

Which manufacturers make truly left handed pistols or revolvers? Charter is the only company I have found thus far, and they only have ONE model called the Southpaw. It's just a mirror image Undercover .38 special though. I would think companies would make at least a few different models or choices.
Anyone know or have any helpful input?

Cabot makes a true Left Handed 1911. Randall used to make them. Aside from those two, I am unaware of any other manufacturers who make true left handed handguns, aside from Charter Arms, which is garbage anyway.

My source? I am left handed, and I scourer the internet regularly for left handed firearms options. Bolt guns and shotguns are in decent supply for us wrong handed individuals thankfully.

only about 10-12% of the population is left handed... there's not enough market demand to justify changing up the tooling for that. Yeah I know that in today's modern age of CNC and pc-controlled everything in manufacturing, devs should be able to just 180 degree flip the file designs on what they are making, but I guess its just not worth it to them. An Ambidexterous design is about as good as you can hope for.

My Canik has a reversible magazine release so that you can push either the left or right side to drop the magazine. That may be about as lefty friendly as I can think.

I think turnbull makes a LH 1911. Randall also made one, good luck finding one of those though. From an ejection stand point, autos shouldn't matter as the gun is generally centered on the body midline.

Most modern semi automatic handguns save 1911 varients are ambidextrous enough for us 10-12% to deal with. I'm sure one day somebody will make a true left handed Glock clone or whatever but a reversible mag button is really all that's needed. A ambi safety too if applicable. Maybe ambi slide stop since not everyone slingshots their slides.

This is about as ambi as they come, other than the few truly left handed models.
