Shoot clays at Bull Run Shooting Center in Centreville - 01/14/15 07:07 PM

Might be fun to dust off our shotguns & get a few guys together & blast some clays.

Im familiar with the trap stand there & recommend it to those with limited experience with shotgun sports such as myself. (rentals available)

Ill be there this Saturday, possibly with another member. Chime in if interested.

I don't know if my schedule will allow me to join, but I highly suggest a round of sporting clays if you have the chance. I was there a few weekends ago with some friends for that. It was raining a bit and cold, but worth sticking around until the close of the day.

Count me as a solid maybe.

Should be just nothing "tactical" according to them. I can go over the protol for the trap stand. Never done sporting clays.

On nice days at Bull Run the 'wait' can be an hour for wobble trap which is a great way to get 'started' in shooting trap and skeet. The rest of the courses usually have a lot less or no wait.

I take the family (4 of us) and we will shoot 2 rounds of wobble and if there is a wait it is about 90 minutes as you get to shoot twice in a row. I also take new shooters to wobble first - because it is generally the easiest and most fun.

As far as 'tacticool' you can shoot them, BUT the barrel minimum is 23" and 'youth' models are supposed to be used only by 'utes'. I've seen a couple tacticool shooters and that might have been length challenged and they were not acting like a yahoo and wasn't an issue. there also were no waits on those days so that might also be a factor

FYI, if you haven't done it, forget about your 'score'. There is a big difference between punching paper at 21' with your pistol or 100 yds with a scoped rifle and shooting a 4" circular disc that is on the move, but I guarantee you that shooting skeet will make you better prepared to hit a moving target.

The people at Bull Run have also been very helpful and a lot of fun in my experience. I've rented OUs from them when were short of shotguns and the guns were nicer than mine. Prices are also very reasonable.

I do not work for Bull Run, but I do think for a public course it is very well done. It's a 45 minute drive from my house or I'd be there a lot more.

I'm happy to meet people there and give it a run.

I enjoy it, but am by no means good at it.

-Really?? Ive gone this & last winter & waited one round max. I figured itd be worse in the spring/summer & have never gone then.
As far as tactical shottys, they would not let me use my 28" Mossberg because of the retractable stock/pistol grip. Said no tactical shotguns, who knows.

Anyways I think I can talk to another member who isnt on this thread & were close to 5 to fill the wobble stand (not that it needs to be full). Happy to take more than 5 too. Anyone wanna throw a date out there? 2/21 or 2/22?

Thanks
Karl

I would be down for the wobble, and love doing the sporting circuit whenever I can.

I've been a few times on weekends, only one time had to wait. Am new to shotguns but wobble is a lot of fun. Haven't tried the others but would be up for a group meet.
