hiking for beginners - 09/12/13 08:43 PM
What would be a good trail here in Va for a beginner?
Perhaps a trail that makes a loop around rather than having to backtrack.
In a semi-mountainous region.

One of my fav. quick hikes is white oak canyon . From the parking area go up until you hit the waterfall then backtrack a bit and make a right onto cedar run link trail, follow that until you intersect cedar run trail and hang a left to head back to the parking area. Its a fairly easy hike and the falls are usually good this time of year.

Another hike that I had fun on in Shenandoah Park is called Little Devil Stairs. It's a leg burner for sure. But when I was out there was fortunate enough to see a couple of bears.

The hike up Sugar Hollow in Albemarle county is a nice relatively easy hike. Great for a Sunday afternoon. Good trout fishing too
