Hello,

I was wondering... do any of you folks sign some sort of bill of sale or document when you trade firearms?

Thanks in advance.

No. BOS does nothing for you. Burden of proof is not on you if something happens, and you certainly don't get points for assisting law enforcement if an issue should arise.

What for what? Signing a bill of sale?

My train of thought was that if someone were to use a firearm you traded them for something ill-intentioned; wouldn't you need to prove that it's no longer in your possession?

No. The burden of proof is not on you.

Burden of proof lies with the prosecution.
