Public Mask Wearing....And Carry Permits - 05/28/20 10:58 AM
Maybe I missed this.....
Isn't it forbidden for a Carry Permit holder with a firearm forbidden from wearing a mask?
How does the new 'must wear a mask in public' decree affect this?
Thanks

The anti masking statute was expressly waived by EO53, effective through 6/10/20. That appears to be what the law (18.2-422) requires. Is there some special requirement that applies to CHP holders?

..nothing that applies to firearm carriers.
but even if the EO didn’t repeal/amend.. there are exemptions for current situation...
based on my uneducated reading of it (not a legal beagle)

I think what I read is that if a mask is deemed a "medical necessity" that it's waived, which of course this "pandemic" if you will, deems it a medical necessity. I'm going to continue to carry concealed, as always... if for some reason, an officer should note that I am carrying, and he would charge me, I would of course challenge it in court and it would be thrown out. The law can't change your CHP because the governor deems it necessary for you to wear a mask.
