“One handgun a month”

Hello everyone,

I’m just wondering if AR pistols fall under the new “One handgun a month” law.
I figured they did but a buddy of mine seems to think they don’t.

They're handguns, so yes. Lower receivers do not. They are just receivers.

Hey not sure if this is the place, I just wanted to throw an update. Having your concealed only allows you to buy one extra handgun a month. If you want to try and get a third you have to coordinate with VSP on the date that and if you miss that date you have to coordinate again. Got this from an FFL I just did a sale through.

That is not what the law says. It sounds like he's confusing the section about people without a concealed handgun permit being able to apply with the VSP to purchase more than one.

I recently asked VSP about multiple handgun purchases under the new law. They said, "There is no limit as long as they [buyer] have one of the exemptions."

Correct. I don't see anything in the bill text that says some people are allowed to buy two handguns a month. You can buy one, unless you got one of the exemptions. That means you can buy one or you can buy as many as you can afford.
It does say that if you aren't exempt, you can apply to the state police for a waiver. This is in the case of buying matched pairs, consecutive numbers, or something along those lines.
