Long Rifles (No Pistols/handguns)

Long Rifles (No Pistols/handguns) - 11/29/20 09:41 AM

I am a long time member here and never sold a rifle. My father in law gave me his rifles, about 15, and I do not need them and quite frankly want to sell them. Since the Dems took over in Virginia is it legal to sell rifles, VA resident to VA resident, without a FFL? I also have a shotgun. I have researched on internet but just can't get clarity. Thanks

As far as I know the ban on private sales is for all firearms, not just pistols.

You can advertise here, you and the buyer meet at a gun shop, you hand the gun/guns to the store person, and the buyer does a background check. You conduct your money exchange however you and the buyer feel like it. I suggest you have them inspect the gun and pay before you go inside for the paperwork. I also suggest that you call the store beforehand to clarify fees, and how they prefer everything to be done.

Private transfers of all firearms require a background IF there is compensation in either services or monetary. If it is a bonefide gift or loan no background is required. Individuals are not able to purchase more than one “handgun” in any 30 day period unless they are LEO for the commonwealth of Virginia or hold a valid concealed handgun permit.
