Dealers who E-file?? - 01/27/14 10:31 AM

I am looking to get a new can tranfered to a local dealer. Does anyone know of a dealer in the richmond, VA Beach, or Fredericksburg area that uses the new E-file system? Thanks!

Colonial Shooting Academy can E-file. I talked to them a few weeks ago about the long wait times and they explained to me how E-filing works.

We use eFile and our current transfer fee is $35 for each NFA item.

Thank you

Talk to Tim at Colonial. He'll tell you everything you need to know about NFA transfer

Update on eForms for our customers. The situation on eForms is getting worse. We are now spending hours to input a single form. We have seen forms disappear from the list and have had to reinput them (and still trying to figure out how to get refunds on the tax paid for the missing forms). We have had forms appear twice with different submit dates. Conversations with those responsible at the NFA branch of the ATF have aknowledged that it is broken beyond belief and have confirmed that there is no money to fix it. They have urged us to contact our legislators in DC about the issue. We will be contacting Eric Cantor (our rep) as well as Rep Goodlatte (Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which has oversight of the ATF). Rep Forbes from VA4 and Rep Scott of VA3 (don't even bother, he is vice-chair of Pelosi's gun grabber caucus) are also members. We are trying to set up a web page to enable you to send a form email off that addresses the key points, but we encourage you to also include a personal message to ensure that it is read. Meanwhile, they are now officially over a year behind on getting stamps back that are on paper Form 4s. We just received a few that are almost exactly one year and have some that are well over that now.

We can do them at New Americian Arms in Short Pump. There are nightmares though.
PM me if you would like more info

Just saw this when i went to check on mine...

The eForms software is not performing to our expectations.  As a result, we are taking the eForms system down until further notice.  We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work with our industry partners to deliver a quality product.  Any eForm submitted will continue to be processed.  The finalized forms will be sent to the user via email.

Until the eForms system is returned to service for the industry, all imports forms (Forms 6 Part I and 6A), NFA forms (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 10), and AFMER reports (Form 5300.11) must be submitted via paper, including any eForms in draft status.

so looks like you're stuck doing it the old fashioned 9-12 month wait way until they get their heads out of their ***PLAY NICE***. I'm seeing a trend with government websites... haha.

Glad I got my form 1 in on February 11th. Hopefully I'll get it by the end of May if that 100 day turnaround is still on schedule.

We are advising our customers to hold fast for now. Next week, industry will be heavily involved with the ATF to determine what this really means. Many of us have been working behind the scenes trying to fix this issue..purely selfish reasons of course smile What does it mean for forms currently in the system, we don't know for sure. They say they will continue to process, but we have already seen forms just disappear, and now have no way of checking up on them to make sure. We will be posting to our twitter, facebook and webpage with info as we get it.

My dealer efiled a form 4 on December 3, and nothing. Hate to say it, but I do look at nfatracker, and it looks like Pickles approved an eform on april4, and it was submitted
Nov23. If that was a way to judge the distance, we're 4.5+ months on approvals for VA eforms.
We need to see/hear they're accessing the system and making approvals at this point.

No guarantees on anything. We are still waiting for eForms from Oct/Nov timeframe. We have seen stuff come back in 90 and stuff take over 15 months..at this point it is just luck of the draw.

Re: Dealers who E-file?? - 04/09/14 02:18 AM

wow damn, that does suck. I figured you meant the paper ones were taking 15 months. Well hell, with no way to check the status of my eform i suppose i should just completely forget about it lol.

Although i did just check the tracker and was upset to see a form efiled on Feb21 was approved Mar17...of course mine couldnt get done that fast haha.

Re: Dealers who E-file?? - 04/10/14 08:55 AM

I trust tracker as much as the ATF. I have seen some serious BS dates put up on there...when they are that short, there is usually a story behind it that they aren't telling. I could have put up one that showed a Form 4 approved in four days because of some corrections and extenuating circumstances...reality was eight months, but the dates on the issued stamp showed four days between my signature and the examiner.

You can call for status like normal, BUT, the folks answering the phone can only say "pending" and give you a date six months out. As of yesterday, they are NOT working on the eForms currently filed (even though they claimed they would). The site is completely offline even inside the ATF.

So even the eForms from October are on hold?

Re: Dealers who E-file?? - 04/10/14 09:46 PM

Anything in eForms right now is stuck until further notice. Things are changing daily up there. As of today, they are saying probably less than 30 days until up and running.

Well that's somewhat promising. Figured that website wouldn't be a big priority to the govt.

so im able to check mine out again, and i see theres no "internal control number". Is that normal? Is that something thats determined once its approved?
