Shop won't sell NFA items to a Trust?

Shop won't sell NFA items to a Trust? - 03/27/15 02:59 PM

I was at a local shop this morning killing some time... I inquired about possibly ordering a suppressor they didn't have in stock.

Long story short, the guy tells me he won't sell or transfer an NFA item to a trust. When I asked him why, he said it's too much of a liability and that all the local sheriffs sign the Forms so there's no point in having a trust anyway/

Obviously he can decide who he wants to do business with, I just found it strange. Fortunately I already have a shop in town that does normal transfers for a great price and will also do NFA transfers for a decent price. I was just curious if anyone else has run into this before.

That's the first time I've even heard of that. I think I'd stay away from there.

That's pretty much the consensus after talking to a buddy that lives up the street.

What kind of liability would there be on the shop? The ATF is doing the vetting after all.

Places like this should not even deal with NFA items.

Glad I'm not the only one that found this to be strange.
