Question on Form 1 in Vienna or Herndon

Question on Form 1 in Vienna or Herndon - 11/15/16 05:47 PM

I'm curious - if someone lives in one of the towns in Fairfax County, do they use the town or the county on their Form 1? Because they aren't independent cities, but are definitely separate local governments within the county, with their own police departments.

Does the gun owner notify Fairfax Sheriff's Office as the CLEO, like someone who lives a mile away in Oakton or Reston would? Or do they notify their local town police department? If my trust is incorporated in the town and my driver's license has the name of the town instead of the county, is that a problem?

Thanks!

Use the county.

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/sheriff/

The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office is responsible for managing the Adult Detention Center, providing security in the courthouse and serving civil law process. The sheriff and the sheriff's deputies have civil and concurrent criminal jurisdiction in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax and the towns of Vienna and Herndon.

Thank you. That's what I suspected but I didn't want to get the form rejected.

Really? Good to know! Just in case anyone else is reading this with the same question, my attorney also advised me that the Commonwealth's Attorney for my county would also be a valid CLEO.

(And btw Hansohn Bros, awesome sale last week, wanted to pick a can up but it wasn't in the budget, hopefully soon!)
