I have attempted to contact several sellers and received no replies, yet I see the posts remain active. What is the proper procedure for responding to a seller? I have sent both personal messages and emails. HGW

That's about all you can do. We can't legislate common courtesy.

You can bump your post by adding a reply to the post, and you can bump it once every 24 hours.

I need to ask a noob question.

If I post something for sale, how do I prevent/accomodate more than one buyer who each send me messages saying "I'll take it?"

Obviously, the item should go to the first guy who replies. But how does the second guy know somebody got in ahead of him? Seems to me the second guy gets his hopes up, only to - at best - get a polite note from the seller telling him the item is already spoken for.

I must be doing something wrong, or missing something.

Please set me straight on how to do it the right way.

Thanks.

Is "I'll take it" still a rule on this site for first dibs? I've skimmed through the rules but didn't find it

Members cannot reply to For Sale threads any longer. PM the Seller to open a communication channel.

Happy vgt'ing!

Correct, you can't reply to another member's for sale post. You must message the other member to buy or trade with them.

Scroll down to the "for sale or trade" area. Pick the correct section for the item or items you want to post(handgun, shotgun, etc.). Click on that forum. At the top left of that forum there is a button "new topic", click that and it will open the screen for creating a post.

Read the rules before posting, it will help save everybody hassles.

New to gun trader. What is the difference between a Private Message and Email Post. If there is a difference how to you send a Private Message. I have responded to several for sale posts using Email Post and never have received a response. Guess I don't understand the procedures used on this site but cannot find any area that explains them.

mto, welcome. You will want to use the PM topic starter go talk to original poster. Make sure to add a subject in the subject line or it doesn't go through. If they reply back to you, you will see a little flashing envelope near the top of your page in the middle. Also under "my stuff" you can go into edit preferences and have pm's copied to your email address. However you cant reply by email, it will just give you notice to check the site for a pm.

Correct way to contact other members as DougCreepN said laugh

Email post means updates to the thread is emailed by the system to you. The other member doesn't get anything from you.

Some members will leave their email or phone number in the thread or in their profiles
