Hey guys, quick question. I have an AR pistol and i am considering legally converting it to a registered SBR. Is this possible, or can you only convert/register rifles as SBR? In other words, is the fact that this gun is currently considered a pistol problematic, or is it irrelevant for purposes of registering an sbr?

It’s irrelevant. It is considered an “other” without the upper. You register the lower not the upper. The stock/brace on just a lower doesn’t make it a pistol or a rifle, just a receiver.

Drop the upper and go do the dance. Run it with a pistol brace until your paperwork clears and then throw an actual stock on it!

Also, since you’ll have to have your lower engraved, I’d recommend Tar Heel State Firearms. Super quick turnaround and really high quality engraving.
