This Vintage 80s 90s Al Mar Japan Pathfinder Quest 19" Sword Machete is in very good condition overall and only shows mild signs of age and handling. The blade is clearly marked with Al Mar's distinctive insignia as well as "JAPAN" on the reverse side of the ricasso. The blade's edge appears to be original from the factory however there is a small chip that can be detected on the lower portion of the blade. This mild blemish does not detract from display or use and has been left exactly as it was found. Light traces of handling and storage can be noticed but no serious damage from abuse or neglect is present. The brass crossguard is securely in place and shows appropriate age. The black plastic grip is clean and in very good condition overall although one of the Al Mar insignia inlays has been lost. The black nylon belt sheath is in good condition and only shows expected evidence of age and storage. The original sharpening stone is still intact and in it's original packaging. All hardware is present, clean and functions as you would expect however signs of age and handling are detectable.

These Al Mar machetes have a strong reputation amongst collectors and have an interesting history of past usage by the elite task forces such as the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team. This example would make a fine addition to any vintage Japanese edged weapons collection and would be very difficult to upgrade. $1775 OBO
