Having to downsize so here is the last of my WWII firearms from my collection.

US PROPERTY marked and all original including the original adjustable peep sight and magazine with the adapter to shoot 22 shorts.

Purchased by the US during WWII as a less expensive way of giving basic marksmanship training to troops, Mossberg lead lapped these barrels so with the adjustable peep sights they are very accurate.

Serial number range dates it to 1944 period.

This one was originally drilled and tapped for a side mount scope. The theory is that some M44US receivers were drilled and tapped for scope mounting even though the Government contracts never called for them.

Also some rifles that were drilled and tapped were marked M44US and some were marked M44US(a) (as this one is (see pics)).

Although the rifles marked M44US(a) do not have all of the civilian features, mainly the adjustable trigger. The serial number range on the drilled and tapped receivers is about ~140,000-144,000. This means that roughly only 4,000 or so rifles were produced with the drilled and tapped receivers. The military bought around 58,000 M44's during the war so this is a fairly rare variant of the M44.

An old CMP rifle at one time, rifle is in nice condition with good sharp bore and usual minor nicks and dings from military use. I’ll include some extra spare parts like an extra sight block, firing pin and plastic grip insert as well since these parts are getting harder to find.

WWII firearms are getting expensive so adding some of the .22 trainers is a less expensive way of adding some original WWII period firearms to your collection.

$500.00 or best offer but lowball offers will be ignored.

PM with questions or interest.
