COLT GOVERNMENT POST WAR MODELS 1947 Two pretty rare early post war pre-70 series Colt 1911A1 Government Model .45 ACP pistols. Both were made in 1947. Serial numbers 224960 and 229930. They are largely overlooked step in the evolution of the Colt Government Model and one that many collections are missing. These are two Post-War pistols with mostly military surplus components and the high polish blue finish on all parts. Not many of these pistols were made, as Colt quickly used up their military surplus parts and then made Government Models from newly-made pieces with new serial number configurations. These pistols are 100% correct and original throughout. All matching and correct. They have all of the nice early post war features. Many of the early Post-WWII Government Model commercial pistols were equipped with left-over USGI parts in an effort to utilize existing inventories. The barrel, hammer, sights, stamped trigger, thumb safety and grips are all USGI leftovers.
Price: $3000.00 each. $5800.00 for the pair. Open to reasonable price counteroffers.
