Let's Keep VaGunTrader Running

Hey folks,

As many of you have seen, the site is at a bit of a crossroads. Google pulled its ad support because the site involves firearms, which means Dave (the guy who’s been hosting and maintaining things behind the scenes) isn’t getting the revenue that used to keep everything running. It costs around $300 a month to keep the site online and running smoothly.

Before we start thinking about membership fees, which I think would hurt the community more than help it, I wanted to share some ideas that might help keep VaGunTrader alive without changing what makes it great.

Try Other Ad Networks
Just because Google backed out doesn’t mean we’re out of options. There are other ad networks that work with gun-related content. If we can get even a little ad revenue back, it’ll take some of the pressure off.

Ad networks like:

Revcontent

AdThrive (may still reject gun content, but worth asking!)

TripleLift

Specialized gun-friendly ad platforms (some forums partner with these directly)

Offer VaGunTrader Merch
What if we had a way to support the site and show off our pride in the community? Stuff like patches, stickers, shirts, or hats could be made with print-on-demand sites so there’s no upfront cost. People can chip in and get something cool in return.

Services like Teespring, Printful, or Redbubble allow printing on demand with no upfront cost.

Optional Premium Perks
Nobody wants to pay to use the site, and I get that. But what if there were optional upgrades? Things like a premium seller badge, early access to listings, or maybe extra photos per listing. Nothing forced, just extra perks for those who want to pitch in.

Bring Back Local Advertisers
The site used to have ads from local gun stores and ranges. Maybe it's time to reach out again. If you know someone who runs a shop, does FFL transfers, or teaches classes, let them know VaGunTrader is open to low-cost ads that support the community.

Keep the Donations Coming
If you're in a position to help, even five bucks a month makes a difference. You can donate through PayPal or Zelle to vaguntrader@gmail.com. It's quick, easy, and helps keep the lights on.

This site has been around for years and it's helped a lot of us buy, sell, and connect with other responsible gun owners across Virginia. With a little help from members like us, I think we can keep it going. Not affiliated to anyone mentioned, but thought it could be a start!

If you’ve got other ideas or want to help out, speak up. We’re in this together.
