Hungarian AMD-65, All numbers matching: Serial numbers on Trunion, bolt, bolt carrier, gas tube, dust cover and front trunion. Built in Hungry and brought into the country by TGI over a two year period around 2007. It is a 7.62x39, 12.5" barrel with the Hungarian, two-chamber muzzle break pinned and welded to 16". Their most recognizable and unique feature is the robust wire stock, only used by Hungarians, known for how strong and wabble-free the lock up is. Push button function. Especially unique is that is a chrome-lined Hungarian military barrel, which makes it even more collectible because of the 2005 ban on foreign barrels imported parts kits. This has not been fired other than in Hungry and has been a 15 year safe queen. The bolt and carrier group is military, select fire type, where the full-auto trip has been machined off. Gun is completely legal as it was built on a semi-auto receiver as a pistol in Hungry, not subject to 922R, and imported by Tennessee Guns International where it was converted to rifle w the pinned muzzle break. There was a time where parts kits were available but only 2500 of these rifles were imported in this fashion. Rarity and appreciation of these increases annually.
Bit of history. This is the first time a warsaw pact country did its own thing. Everyone prior had followed the Soviet plan. The Hungarians led the way with the first intermediate length barrel (12") and first folding stock. The under-folder was available, but something lighter and with better lock up. They made the first side-folding stock on an AK. Shortening the gas tube and piston, this was made well before the 90 degree gas block was a thing. Also the first to use a muzzle brake, to tame recoil. The so-called tanker magazines (20 rounders) were developed as a result of this rifle. During my three tours in Afghanistan, this was the weapon used by the Afghan police units. Other countries took notice of the shorter barrel and followed on with the Galil SAR, AKS-47U and the 100 series AKs in Russia.
