My son notified me to check out a Virginia Treasury website, that some money was owed to me and the Treasury was holding it. He was correct. I filed a claim and had a check within a week. It appears if you are owed money, whether it be from a previous employer, your doctor/dentist, any business, bank, and even a local or state government (overpaid taxes, etc), that money is sent to the Virginia Treasury. They hold it for you but you have to ask for it. All you have to do is look on their website. Type in your name and see if anything shows up. Be aware though, if you have a more common name like "Mike Jones" there will be alot of Mike Jones that show up. You'll have to filter through them and figure out if any belong to you. You should also search family members, even deceased ones. If you have or had a business, search that too.

This is real, not a scam. It's the Virginia Treasury website. It appears ever state has one.
