On offer is a new in box (NIB), very early production (1994) P229 in .357 SIG (cf., SIGforum's classic P series list of serials: reganhouse ) .

First introduced in 1992 with chambering in .40 S&W, the P229 featured an overall profile (H x L x W) identical to that of the compact double-stack P228, but with a slide milled from a solid piece of forged stainless steel and finished in black Nitron. Slightly heavier (~1.5 oz) than the P228, the P229 was later (1994) extended to .357 SIG-a semi-auto bottle-neck cartridge developed as a joint venture between SIG Sauer and Federal Premium approaching the ballistic performance of the .357 Magnum.

The pistol features a hard-coat, black-anodized aluminum alloy frame produced in Germany and a slide manufactured in the US. It is a DA/SA action based on the locked-breech, short-recoil method of operation. The barrel is 3.86" in length and has 6 grooves with a twist rate of 1:16". It is triple-serialed (barrel, frame and slide) with the s/n on the left side of the barrel. Like all P-series SIG Sauer pistols, it has a decocker, a firing pin safety and a drop safety.

This particular P229 comes with one 12-rd magazine, the original factory cardboard box, a grey plastic SIGARMS hard case, a multi-lingual manual, two SIGARMS, Inc. cards, and a warning label tag.

The P229 in .357 SIG was adopted by the VA State Police, the U.S. Secret Service, the Texas Rangers, and the U.S. Air Marshals for a time because of its stopping power and flat trajectory. These early no-rail P229s are highly desirable.

After receiving the pistol, I inspected and lubed it. I then placed it in a safe with a dehumidifier where it has remained to this day.

Asking price: $950. I prefer to complete the transfer FTF in NoVA while it is still legal. However, the transfer can be done at an FFL if desired. If FTF, a valid VA CCW and VA driver's license will be required. Cash only. No trades, please.

More or specific pics can be made available via email, if desired.

This is a very nice and somewhat scarce firearm in collector-grade condition (NIB) being offered at a reasonable price. I welcome inquiries. I don't expect this to last long.
