This is a 1973 Colt Combat Commander with much work by EGW. I don’t have a build sheet. Both I and the previous owner contacted EGW and they confirmed they worked on the gun, but don’t keep build sheets as far back as this gun (probably done in the early 2000s).

Some of things done:

-fitted storm lake match barrel with EGW bushing/plug
-flattened and serrated top of slide
-rear slide serrations
-serrated slide release
-checkered Front strap
-welded EGW magwell
-10-8 rear with gold bead front sights
-whole gun is done in ion bond (i don’t know why my brain keeps wanting to say Black-T)

to build this gun new would be north of $4k. Just finding a 1973 base gun in excellent shape will cost you almost what I’m asking.

Bump for the night crowd

so first you have a near mint 53 year old Colt

then you have the slide work…flattening and serrating
the top of the slide, serrating the rear of the slide, cutting modern sight cuts, and installing the sights…figure that, on the low end, runs you $300 (heck just the sights alone are $100)…so maybe closer to $350

then you have to get the front strap checkered…for the machining alone you’re at $250, if you’re lucky

then you have to pay to radius and install the beavertail, say $350 with labor and parts

then to get the match barrel, plug and bushing fitted and installed to a frame that is tightened and had the ejection port radiused and lowered? at least $450 with parts and labor

then welding, fitting and blending the EGW magwell will run you at least $350 (that’s probably low)

then to ion bond the whole gun and internals is $600+

and we haven’t even talked about the fitted safety by sandy garrett, the serrated slide stop, the internals and trigger job

that’s $2350 worth of work, minimum, before you ever pay a cent for a base gun. and finding the smith. and waiting 2 years for them to do it.
